Join us for our January home dedication!

[Blog by LaGail Steward, Habitat Homeowner]

Hello, my name is LaGail Steward. I am a single mother of a beautiful 5 year old daughter named Nevea Williams, who is enjoying her very first year of kindergarten at South Canton Scholars School.

When I was growing up, my mom and I lived in several cities – always in apartments. After graduating from Romulus High School in 2007, I moved to Ypsilanti and over the last 8 years, I have grown to love this town. I work at the University of Michigan Ypsilanti Health Center, where I assist patients on a daily basis as a Patient Service Assistant. When I’m not at the Clinic, I am working as an assistant coach for Nevea’s cheer team, the Lincoln Railsplitters. Go Blue!

Nevea and I attend Peoples Community Baptist Church of Westland, Michigan under the direction of Pastor Vincent A. Matthews. Nevea is a part of the Melodious Voices in which she is one of the youngest in the choir.

Because of Habitat, I am able to give Nevea something that I never had in my childhood: a place where she can stay and grow for many years, a place where she can make lifelong friends, a place with a yard for her and King Charlie (our family dog) to run and play, a place she can come back to when she is all grown up – a place to call home. I am forever grateful to Habitat for Humanity and to all of my friends, family and supporters. Thank you all so much for giving me this opportunity. Nevea, we are almost home! – LaGail Steward

Thank you Toyota for sponsoring the renovation of LaGail and Nevea’s new home!

Double your impact!

Don’t forget that your online gift made by midnight on December 31 will be MATCHED thanks to a generous matching gift. That means that your gift will have TWICE the impact and will help more children like Jordan and Jonathan Smith (pictured above) have a safe place to grow up and to thrive in ways they never knew they could.

Your gift, no matter the size, will make a  significant difference in our community. We are so grateful for you, and we look forward to partnering to help more families in 2016!

All the best in the New Year,

Sarah Stanton, Executive Director

Your gift DOUBLED: until December 31!

Dear Friend,
Last year, Raechel, Whitney, and Levi Ostrowski were dreaming of the day when they could move into their home. Today, one year later, they are so grateful to now have a safe, stable place to call home!
This holiday season, I ask you to think about home and what it means to you. For children like Raechel, Whitney, and Levi, a home means they now have a chance at a brighter future. Your gift today will make it possible for more children to have this chance, too.
Right now, your gift will go twice as far! Thanks to a generous donation from two of our most loyal supporters, Jim and Gwynn Sterken, your gift will be matched – dollar for dollar – up to $5,000 from now until midnight on December 31. That means that your gift will have twice the impact!
From our Habitat family to yours, we wish you a joyous holiday season filled with love, peace, happiness, and home. Thank you for all you do for Habitat and for our community. Together we are making a difference.
With gratitude,
Sarah Stanton, Executive Director
