Meet Wendy Alfaro-Cruz

“My name is Wendy Alfaro-Cruz. I am 29 years old and residing in the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti area. I work as a mapping engineer for a software company in Livonia, Michigan. As someone who grew up in a single-parent household and from a family who escaped war-torn El Salvador and came to Michigan in the 90s, I knew that my situation was unique and that I would face struggles that many others might not.

Growing up, I always knew that owning a home would be the ultimate American dream for me. Navigating the home-buying process had been challenging but when I reached out to Habitat for Humanity, the process was smooth sailing from there. I have become knowledgeable in the home-buying process which included taking money management classes, a homebuyer education course, and becoming involved in the actual construction of a home. I look forward to the many ups and downs of homeownership for years to come.

My hobbies include cooking, reading, knitting/crocheting, and taking long walks with my Boston terrier Cookie. I am excited to start my own veggie garden in the backyard of the home and becoming involved in the community.”
